TRIAL SESSION
Trial sessions are limited to one session per student.
The session lasts for 20 minutes. The IELTS Tutor will wait no longer than 5 minutes for the student to arrive. If the student does not arrive within 5 minutes, the lesson will be cancelled and the student will have to book again.
The trial session is an opportunity for the student to
The IELTS Tutor reserves the right to refuse to give lessons to certain individuals. The IELTS Tutor also reserves the right to refuse to offer lessons to certain individuals who have done trial sessions.
Refusals to offer lessons after a trial session are almost always due to an inadequate ability level (the student should be at least at Pre-Intermediate - A2 level) or a slow internet connection.
CANCELLATIONS
The IELTS Tutor reserves the right to cancel without refund any lessons which have not been taken by the cut-off date.
To save money, instead of cancelling the lesson, the student should reschedule their lesson.
If the student reschedules their lesson for a different time or date, they will not lose that lesson from their package – this lesson will be transferred to the new time or date for no added fee. However, the student must meet these conditions:
TUTOR CANCELLATIONS
On very rare occurrences, such as an emergency or an illness, The IELTS Tutor may be unable to teach the lesson. If this ever happens, The IELTS Tutor will try to give the student at least 24 hours notice but the student must accept that this can occasionally happen on the day of the lesson itself. In cases where their teacher cannot teach the scheduled lesson, the lesson will be rescheduled.
PUNCTUALITY
The student must be on time for their lessons. The IELTS Tutor will wait a maximum of 5 minutes for them to come to the class. If the student has not arrived within 5 minutes, the lesson will be cancelled and the student will NOT receive a refund. The lesson will run for 50 minutes from the time it was due to start. So if the student arrives 5 minutes late, the student will lose 5 minutes from that lesson and only have 45 minutes. Sometimes The IELTS Tutor will have another lesson to teach immediately after the student's. We try to schedule lessons at least 10 minutes apart, but sometimes this isn’t possible. In these rare cases, the student must accept that their lesson might finish up to 5 minutes early.
CONNECTIVITY
One of the reasons an IELTS trial session is conducted is so that The IELTS Tutor can see if the student's internet connection is fast and reliable enough for lessons. If The IELTS Tutor feels that the student's internet is not fast or reliable enough, The IELTS Tutor will not be able to offer the student any lessons. Sometimes during a lesson, the student's internet may stop working. If the student can get their internet working again within 5 minutes, and if The IELTS Tutor does not have another lesson immediately after the student's, the student will not lose any lesson time. The IELTS Tutor will add those 5 minutes to the end of the lesson. However, The IELTS Tutor will not add any more than 5 minutes.
If the student's internet stops working more than once during a lesson, The IELTS Tutor may be forced to cancel the lesson, and may advise the student to speak to their internet provider before they can have another lesson.
Although The IELTS Tutor tries to make their internet as reliable as possible, occasionally a connection may stop working in the middle of a lesson. If this happens, the student will not lose any lesson time. For every minute The IELTS Tutor’s internet isn’t working, a minute will be added to the end of the student's lesson, or to the next lesson if the student would prefer. If a lesson is scheduled immediately after the student's, these lost minutes will have to be added to the end of the following lesson.
IELTS WRITING CHECK
Although every effort is made to provide feedback for each writing submission within 48 hours, occasionally this is not possible. When the student purchases IELTS Writing Check, the student accepts that feedback can take up to an extra 48 hours (96 hours all together), especially in times of heavy workload, sickness, and/or power outages.
Each submission must be sent within 24 hours of purchase. If all submissions from a package are not sent within 5 consecutive days, the student risks losing their feedback without a refund if the service is terminated for any reason. For instance, if the IELTS Writing Check 4-set package is purchased and only 1-3 submissions are used, The IELTS Tutor will treat the feedback service used as one single 4-set package and the remaining unused/unsubmitted set as forfeited.
One IELTS Writing Check feedback service means one Task 1 submission OR one Task 2 submission, not both.
Tasks are corrected individually and each has their own turnaround time of 48 hours.
Task 2 essays must not exceed 280 words, and Task 1 writing must not exceed 180 words, in order to be eligible for feedback.
LESSON RECORDINGS
Lessons are recorded for the student's own convenience; the student may play it back after class for review or extra revision.
The IELTS Tutor reserves the right to use sections of these recordings for promotional purposes. The IELTS Tutor will never upload anything where the student speaks about their personal details.
The IELTS Tutor may also use the student's IELTS Writing practice for promotional purposes. Again, The IELTS Tutor will never upload anything that contains the student's personal details.
IELTS RESULTS
The IELTS Tutor pride ourselves on our ability to help candidates get the IELTS scores they require in order to achieve their specific goals. A great amount of effort is put into crafting each and every lesson with the target of preparing students for everything the IELTS exam might throw at them, and giving them the tools and techniques to boost their chances of success.
However, despite best efforts, sometimes results do not meet expectations. When the student commits to lessons with The IELTS Tutor, they accept that The IELTS Tutor does not take any responsibility for a disappointing score, and that there can be no refunds in such cases.
